Mozilla Firefox is a best choice for your default browser and it is especially handy if you are running Windows. It also takes the control of Cortana’s Bing. The browser is performing a lot of interesting pro-user privacy things. The Private Browsing mode in this browser rolling out ads that actually respect user preferences and blocks tracking ads. It also has some of the advantages like open tabs across devices, sync your bookmarks and browsing history. Below are the steps on how to set up Firefox the right way.
Import Bookmarks
Download the latest version of Firefox and install it on your PC. After installing the Firefox, it shows the option to install bookmarks from other browsers. Check out guidelines online for how to transfer bookmarks from Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera and Safari. You will export your bookmarks as ‘.html’ file and save it on your PC and also you will import bookmarks using Firefox bookmark manager from other browsers.
To open the bookmarks manager in Firefox, just type Ctrl + Shift + B on your keyboard. A new window is open up, click the Import and Backup button at the top and choose import bookmarks from html. After that select the html file you have exported from your old browser. Now, you will see your previous bookmarks by doing this.
Firefox Sync
Firefox Sync lets you synchronize your installed add-ons, open tabs across your PCs and other devices, browsing history and bookmarks. You have to sign-up for a Firefox account to use Sync. To sign into Sync, click on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner and click on “Sign into Sync” in the bottom. A tab will open and here you will create a Firefox account. Fill out the form and click sign up.
After signing up Firefox will send you a verification email which you will have to click before you will continue to synchronize. Once Firefox will syncing your data to Mozilla servers, you can access the data with Firefox on other PCs.
Sync saves your bookmarks, history, preferences, tabs, installed add-ons and passwords by default. To change any of that in Firefox, open a new tab and type ‘about: preferences#sync’ and untick any boxes under ‘sync’. In a new tab type ‘inabout: preferences#security’ to turn off Firefox’s feature for saving passwords.

Firefox also has a strong add-ons like Google Chrome. These add-ons enhance the skills of your browser. If you want to install add-ons in Firefox, type ‘about: addons’ in a new tab.
“NoScript” a classic Firefox add-on for Privacy and Security conscious users which is developed by Giorgio Maone. It has permissions that give you control over what runs and what does not on every site and stops JavaScript & other content from running.
Another add-on for Firefox is Download Manager Tweak, which adds authority to Firefox’s download manager. Open the manager in a sidebar or a tab, delete a downloaded file and re-download it.
Another add-on is “HTTPS Everywhere”. If an ‘https’ connection is available for the site, this add-on forces the sites to connect to you over a secure ‘https’ connection. Firefox also comes with another add-on from read-isst-later service named “Pocket built-in”.
