There are those times when the thoughts are so fast that it seems like your fingers can’t keep up with them. Sadly, not all moments are like that. There are also those times when nothing comes to mind even if you have been sitting in front of your computer or desk for hours. You have tried so hard to focus and to write and you have tried all tricks up in your sleeve but to no avail. You just have no idea how to write that personal essay . If you are experiencing this, you, my friend, is a victim of writer’s block. This is a situation that all writers hate to be in.

The great news is that you do not have to stay in this situation forever. In fact, there are various ways on how you can develop different writing ideas, get back on track and never go back to that dreadful situation ever again. The best way to deal with it is to some Zen meditation techniques so you can finally find your writing center. With that in mind, here are some of the ways on how you can finally develop ideas for your essay.

Write just for fun!

You think that you should write just to create something important or something “serious” and if that is the case, your creativity will surely be curbed. Because of this, it is a must that you schedule a fun writing session for at least 5 minutes a day. Get a blank paper and a pen (or a laptop) and set a timer for 5 minutes. Once the timer starts, write (or type) anything that will come to mind. Do not second guess it. Just type and write and you will be surprised once creativity starts to kick in.

Think of yourself as a writer.

Sometimes, you need to tell yourself that you are a writer. Say to yourself, “I am a writer!”. Maybe you will have some problems saying it because you think you are not good enough. You write, right? If yes, then you are a writer. Claim it. Embrace it and you will surely be it. When you finally think of yourself as a writer, your confidence will be boosted and your creativity will surely be stimulated.

Look for inspiration…everywhere!

Many writers think that they can only find inspiration from the big things—a life changing event, a dilemma or a great love. The truth is, inspiration is everywhere. It is in the little things you do. It is in the people that you meet every day. It is in the places you see each day. You just have to open your mind to see it. If you love writing late at night, you can turn it into an article: “Why night time is the best time to write” or if you love to think of ideas while jogging, you can write: “How to develop writing ideas while jogging”.

Write all your ideas.

Ideas are very difficult to catch. One moment, you have them. The next, you already lost them. That is why it is best that you always have a notebook and pen on hand so you can write your ideas down once it crossed your mind. You can read this when you are experiencing writer’s block so you can get inspiration and ideas.

Meditate.

Sometimes, you need silence to stimulate your mind. Start your writing sessions with a few minutes of meditation. Just sit in front of your desk and try tokeep silent as much as possible. Let go of your thoughts. Let go of control. Focus on your breathing. Feel the different sensations in your body. Listen closely to the sounds surrounding you. Do this for 5 minutes and it can make your creativity go a long way.

Write blind.

There are times when we get too conscious about how and what we write that we tend to limit our creativity. The best way to combat this is to lower the brightness of your computer screen. In this way, your monitor will be blank. Now, type everything that you could think of about a certain topic. Do this for 20 minutes. After that, increase the brightness of the screen and proceed to read what you have just typed. This is one good way to find out what you have to say about that topic, uncensored!

Read books.

There is no better way to deal with writer’s block than to seek inspiration from other writers. If you can’t write, then read. For sure, you can whip up ideas from the stories, thoughts, and concepts of other writers.

All writers experience writer’s block or the blank page syndrome. But what differentiates a great writer from a good one is that the former finds a way to overcome this situation while the latter gets paralyzed by it. If you want to improve your writing and develop amazing ideas for your essays and articles, the tips mentioned above are highly beneficial for you.
