Video game graphics have come a very long way. It seems like only yesterday that gamers were impressed by having 16 colours, and were satisfied with seeing the world in a 2D plane. Today, modern video game graphics are nothing short of phenomenal. From near photo realistic human faces, to worlds so richly detailed you would swear they were real places.
The future seems to suggest that graphics will only get better, but have already reached what many consider to be a plateau point. Which is to say; they won’t really be getting much better than they already are, or at least will improve to a less noticeable level.
The time is perfect, then, to take a look at the current best looking video games of all time. Of course, virtually all video games look better on PC, sorry console gamers, so consider this list considering games in their PC version, with settings put to Ultra.
The Witcher 3
The Witcher 3 is a game that simply does not stop impressing in the graphics department. Featuring incredibly lifelike character models, perfectly animated faces, and a world that simply doesn’t stop being gorgeous, the game is a graphical masterpiece.
It excels especially well in the scale department, showcasing a world that simply seems to go on forever. And, when the sun sets or rises, that already impressive world can steal a gamer’s breath away.
Rise Of The Tomb Raider
Rise of the Tomb Raider can bring a modern power PC to its knees. There is hardly a moment in the game that is not jam packed with incredible detail, astonishingly realistic human characters, and enough flashy effects to make a graphics card burst into flames.
Some areas of the game are infamous for pushing even the most powerful PCs to their limits, such as the Geothermal Valley, which takes the games graphics to the next level by adding dense foliage to an already demanding game.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2
Whatever sins the game may have committed with it’s loot box system, there is no denying that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is one of the best, if not the best looking game around. Perfectly capturing the Star Wars universe, the game has such realistic graphics as to be mistakable for reality.
From deserts and rocks that a person could swear were real, to towering forest trees that filter sunlight, the game is a true marvel for the eyes and is as exciting as the online gambling canada has to offer.
Assassins Creed: Origins
Recently released to rave reviews, the Assassin’s Creed series comes crawling back with a successful new title. And yes, also one of the best looking games of all time. Assuming your PC can handle it. Set in ancient Egypt, the game goes to great lengths to blast the player’s eyes with extraordinarily detailed ancient architecture.
The pyramids are, of course, climbable, and once scaling them the view is so stunning as to almost be beyond belief. Don’t forget to actually murder some bad guys while staring around at the endless beauty.
